Aware is a mobile app concept that serves as an educational tool for individuals to become more culturally aware of the regions they are traveling to or wish to visit in the future. Developed in Adobe XD.

The UX Process
Prior to designing the prototype, I conducted preliminary research regarding cultural awareness and sensitivity within the tourism industry in order to empathize with what potential users want, need, fear and desire relative to the issues at hand. I also created and sent out a survey asking over 30 individuals about their personal experiences with tourism and cultural awareness, which I then evaluated the data from and defined the key problem I wanted to solve: How might we ensure travelers respect the local cultures of the regions they are visiting? I then began to ideate and design a prototype of the app concept, Aware. In order to ensure my final design specifications were consistent, I redlined each unique application page.
High-Fidelity Prototype
In order to achieve a minimalist, neat, and organized interface, I decided to include a lot of white space in the design. This use of white space creates a riveting contrast between the beautiful, vibrant images of the regions and the background, making it easy for the user to view the images and interact with each element. The use of Poppins, a geometric sans-serif typeface, contributes to the minimalist theme with the use of various weights throughout the prototype to easily distinguish between different headings.
